Vintage, Cutler Academy Baseball Team Photograph. Rare, antique Turn of the Century Baseball Photograph. 1890’s to early 1900’s. Photograph showing Cutler Academy Baseball Team in full uniform. Era Bats, Gloves, & Catchers Gear are visible in Photo & one of the middle Players (standing in back row), is displaying a Great early Ball too. Photograph is in excellent condition Cutler Academy, or the Cutler School was a primary through college preparatory Boys school. Initially located at 713 6th Ave. In Manhattan, New York City. The school was established in October of 1876 by Arthur Hamilton Cutler. The school’s founder tutored Theodore Roosevelt, his brother, Elliott Roosevelt, his sister, Corinne Roosevelt, and his future wife, Edith Carow. According to the New York Times, Theodore Roosevelt was the first graduate of the school, although Roosevelt’s autobiography merely refers to Cutler as his “tutor” for three years, from 1873 until he entered Harvard in 1876.
