1900 Lot of 4 Antique. Early Gelatin Silver Portraits. All of the photos are in their original antique frames, as pictured. The two rectangular ones are in fabulous hardwood frames from a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania studio (bit of scratching on the one that holds a portrait of three). The two oval frames are typical period composition-on-wood (bit of age loss) in goldtone. All of the photos are early gelatin silver from the early 1900s. The smallest photo is either gelatin silver or (earlier) albumen, and it has been amazingly hand-colorized by a photography studio using a soft-brush technique that gives it a chromolithograph appearance. But yes, it is a photograph, not a litho. All of the photographic images are in excellent condition. The colorized one has a pair of scratches in the baby’s chest area. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. Don’t we all! ?
