A set of 39 original antique photographs showing a colonial farming family in the Belgian Congo in the 1920s. Here’s a description of each photograph, most of the photos are 12x9cm and a few at the smaller size of 8x6cm. 1, White man with local villages. 2, Family photo with animal skin rug. 3, Family photo on farm. 4, Family photo near tree. 6, Elephants with family. 7, Family photo in a house. 8, Two women sitting on a sofa. 9, Family photo with car in the jungle. 10, Group photo with locals. 11, Large piece of farming equipment. 12, Large group of local farm workers. 13, Train carriage full of wood. 14, Loading carriage with wood. 16, Family in a tent. 19, Men with guns in a field. 20, Family on a road with car and field. 22, Local farmers with boxes of grain. 23, Family with irrigation ditch. 24, Family & Locals with dog in a field. 27, Locals with car. 28, Car with gun resting on the side. 29, Family with coconut tree. 30, Family with banana tree. 31, Family with tree and field. 32, white couple with local women. 33, Family in smart outfits in house. 34, Family photo with man holding small monkey. 35, Picnic with man holding a gun. 36, Two men and four locals on a train track. 37, Hunting party with animal skin. 38, Family with Fruit trees. 39, Couple outside (this photo has been cut in half). At some point the photos have been in a album as some still have little bits of the paper holders on the corners. It’s possible they might be able to be removed with the right knowledge. The photos show slight wear and some are slightly faded and not in focus. Most have writing on the rear and some have the date on the front in black ink.
