Iconic scenes of natives and locales in Northern Africa: Tripoli, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco for the most part. These authentic Heliogravures (sometimes referred to as photo lithographs or photo engravings) measure approx. 9.5 by 12 inches (23 x 30 cm) and are graded [VG+]. They are generally sepia-toned, but many have been colored by a seemingly hand-tinted photo process. Several larger desert panorama scenes are also available, measuring approx. 12 x 23 inches 30 x 60 cm. The photographs were taken by Lehnert and Landrock in Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Spain (the Alhambra). Unfortunately, we do not have specific identifiers for each photo except for the Alhambra photos. Though many of the original glass plate negatives were rediscovered in 1982, it is believed the glass printing plates for the amazing images in our collection were destroyed during the American & British bombardment of Germany in World War II. We offer our Lehnert & Landrock Heliogravures with the option to have them Professionally Matted or Matted & Framed. VINTAGE PRINTS & VINTAGE ADS GRADING SYSTEM. [Fine] : This grade means that the vintage advertisement is a beautiful example with virtually no flaws (If any). Please refer to main image for a closer look, as it is the exact magazine advertisement that you will receive. [VG+]: This grade means that the vintage advertisement has only the most minor defects, such as a small amount of marginal soiling or discoloration, not affecting the image. There is absolutely NO writing or water damage. Any defects would be completely hidden once matted. [VG]: This grade means that the vintage ad has minor defects, which may range from minor soiling or discoloration to a very minor edge tear or two, none of which effect the ad itself. [VG-]: This grade means that there is relatively significant staining, soiling, edge wear, wrinkling or tearing etc. Most of the imperfections would be hidden once matted. There is no writing or water damage. The vintage ad is all present and still in a collectible condition. [Good]: This grade means that there is significant soiling, foxing, creasing or water damage, which may effect the image itself, but still worthy of consideration for a collector. We infrequently offer a vintage ad in such condition, unless it is a highly desirable or very rare advertisement. [Poor]: This grade means that there is significant imperfections or other factors which significantly detract from the print ad, such as water damage, significant rips or tears or even missing part of the ad. We rarely offer print ads in poor condition, unless it is extremely rare and collectible. Wood Frames, Manufactured in the USA. Frame Profile is approx. 1.125 Width x. See Images for FRAME Examples.
