This locket probably dates from C1830s. One of the compartments features a lock of hair. This locket may have started life to be fitted to an Albert / Albertina chain, but has a hook for the fitment of a chain. It is very fine quality and is complete with the original gold color photo place holders and interior glazing to one face which maybe original. The locket is richly chased and engraved and has a lovely stylized hanging bale. It is not marked for gold content but tests as at least 14ct gold and is warranted as such. Is a super item and measures 1.25 in total length including bale and loop and is 0.5 wide. The inner photo place holders are approx. The total weight is 3.47 grams. This item is in antique condition 1/2. There is no damage to the metal work, which shows only minor age related wear. The bale is good as is the fitted hook for a chain, which is gold.
