360 Antique STEREOVIEW CARDS & Viewer PALESTINE YELLOWSTONE AFRICA JAPAN Boxes G
Rare Lot of 360 Antique Stereoview Cards, Antique Stereoscope Viewer & 9 Antique Stereoview Card Boxes. A wide variety of many choice stereoview cards, great photography with wonderful antiquated views, many of which are long gone. The STRIPES in the black and white scans above ARE NOT on the original cards, the original cards all have clear sharp images with lots of details. These 3-D picture cards are from all over the world and the United States featuring. Stereoview cards from the late 1800’s to the very early 1900’s, in my estimate although there are. No dates on the cards that I have found. Rare photos from as pre WWII Japan, Palestine and Jerusalem. Africa, Egypt, China, Italy, Germany, Peru and many more. These stereoview cards are in good condition, 98% of them are published by Keystone View Company, Made in the USA, some from other publishers. Some of the cards are in sepia tone, some black and white, and some in color. Some cards, I found were hard to tell if they are black and white or sepia tone to me. The black and white photos above were all sepia tone, color and some black and white but I converted them to plain black and white for this listing because when I scanned them the color and the sepia tone had stripes on the pictures due to the curve of the stereoview card. These samples are just the tip of the iceberg, there is a wealth here of rare historical photographs, very hard to come by. Most of the cards have well written information on the back corresponding to the photos. The following sets of stereoview cards are in this lot. Yosemite National Park, 24. Birds, 18 (2 of these are #B35 Blue Jay). Victorian Children, 3+ in various settings, sepia tone, Keystone. 1 Blackface couple, sepia tone, Standard Series brand. United States, various sites, 39. Peru, 1 sepia tone, Keystone. Victorian Ladies, Couples and children on outings. Cards have a slight curve to them, all of them work perfectly in the antique viewer that is included in this lot. Some of the cards have slightly bumped corners or some light edge wear. Lot comes with wood and light weight metal Stereoscope Viewer, no marked Stereoscope but it is dated Pat. July 28, 1903, looks like a Stereoscope and works very well. The viewer has red velvet around where it comes in contact with your face, viewer is adjustable as you can slide it closer or further away when using. 5-1/4″ wide at widest point and 12.5″ long, the two antique glass magnifiers work very well.
