Antique Double-Sided Beveled Glass Daguerrotype Brooch. Photo Jewelry, Mourning Jewelry? , Commemorative Jewelry, late-19th Century. Likely made of sterling silver. The pin separates into two pieces, front and back. Each piece holds an image, either a daguerrotype or a tin type. The front of the brooch holds a man’s photo; the rear, a woman’s photo. Both photos are attractive, with light tinting on both. I have not opened the brooch. Something inside the brooch rattles when shaken — perhaps a souvenir, perhaps a momento mori, perhaps a relic of some sort. The pin and it’s fastener are both in good, working condition. This is a lovely, evocative piece of 19th-Century jewelry in excellent condition, ready yo be worn.
