This is a magnificent antique early 20th century Edwardian era large picture agate brooch , it weighs 9.4 grams and measures 1 3/4 inches across at its widest point which is the tip of the pin as this old beauty has its original pin which was always a little longer than the brooch. Approximately a 40 – 45 ct oval polished natural agate gemstone with its own very beautiful one-of-a-kind matrix and obviously carefully chosen by the maker for this amazing piece of craftsmanship. This gemstone has a fine polish and is without scratches or abrasions and is at least a couple millimeters thick carefully set in first a very sturdy sterling silver bezel that has a another layer of 14 K rose gold all the way around the external perimeter , please study the photos this is not gold filled but a separate layer of gold all the way around the silver , the gold tests as 14 K and the metal underneath tests as sterling silver but not the pin it is a sturdy form of steel with a good hinge and hooked closure for Structural integrity.
