1905 gesso on wood frame of EXCEPTIONAL quality features high relief designs, closed corners and sophisticated bronze leaf over red bole finish. Measuring 26 3/4″ x 30 3/4″ overall,, it boasts a 19 3/4″ x 23 3/4″ reveal and a re-cut 20 1/4″ x 26″ rabbet. Without its inner frame, the rabbet measures 22″ x 25 3/4″ with 21 1/8″ x 25 1/8″ reveal. As the images show, this frame has pleasing mass and crisply modeled details and miter cracks with minimal loss at all 4 corners. Additionally, some of the edge ornament on the outside of the frame is missing… Very easily replicated and repaired. It is sturdy and usable and dirty with worn leaf exposing red ground.
