THis bold, energetic and colorful pure abstraction in heavily layered oil on Masonite dates from the middle of the 1900’s and is housed in an intriguingly constructed wood, masonite and fabric frame with gold leaf accents. Measuring 25 3/4″ x 33 1/2″ overall; 19 1/2″ x 27 1/4″ artwork alone, the piece displays well both vertically and horizontally. Its frame is soiled with edge chips and you will note some “air” about the edges due to the fact that the work is painted on an irregular Masonite scrap which i a bit too small for the reveal of the frame in places. The back of the work has a BOLD portrait painting, possibly in the same hand. Both sides show some dirt and scratches and some areas of possible touch-up. The surface is stable and the frame needs a little touch-up and cleaning.
